at this Christmas time.

Countdown

With Christmas fast approaching,

it's definitely time to countdown.

The above advent tree

 is one that is displayed

 in my home every Christmas,

eventhough my daughter is now 24 years old. 

 I made this for her when she was two. 

 So, it's just following tradition.

The tree is up and decorated,

some handmade cross-stitched decorations in place aswell.

Although plans have been delayed,

due to seasonal germs/illness,

I'm sure everything will be

 organised for the festive season.

Catching Up....

Being aware,

 that my Christmas preparations were way behind this year,

 very unlike me,

I ventured off to Bath,

 a town famous for it's Roman Baths,

 although not enough time to visit them on this occasion.

The Christmas Market was also in full swing,

 offerings from Mulled Wine or Cider,

 to a wide range of crafts

But, being a weekend & the festive season,

the town was just SOooo...Busy!

But, this gave me more opportunity,

 to explore the side streets with plenty of individual eateries

& exclusive/creative  shops.

Due to the crowds,

I gave most of the street market a miss,

which was mean't to put me in a festive mood,

but I enjoyed watching the old fashioned Merry Go Round ride,

which appeared to be a magical delight for young & old.

This visit to this historical town ultimately

gave me the chance to visit a favourite shop,

The Cath Kidston Shop,

which thankfully helped me to choose some of my seasonal gifts!

All the Signs

With Autumn leaves progressively fall,

especially with increasingly,

 colder weather creeping in,

signs of the winter in evidence with

 many plants remaining  with masses of berries.

Thoughts,

 certainly starting to give way,

 to preparations for

the Christmas season.

Xmas Festivities

Enjoyed the last couple days of Christmas celebrations,

although, I would normally go for a long walk on Boxing Day,

but this year, so bitterly cold!

With the snow & in particular Ice,

 it was definitely best to stay indoors.

Hopefully, I will get the chance to make up for that during the week.

SOOoooo....Eat, Drink, & Be Merry it was to be instead!!!

Take Care Everyone!

Much More Than Yellow

While the sight of the sunny colour Yellow is a welcome sight,

 much more is happening in the garden.

Berries & leaves are still decaying & progressively becoming darker,

But, even in a day,

 the daffodils are appearing in an abundance.

And yet,

 the Grape Hyacinths are also appearing,

 & nearly in full bloom.

Even a favourite herb of mine,

 Rosemary, is also in flower.

A very small flower,

 but wonderful in detail & colour.

Another softer shade to be seen,

comes from the flowering Heathers.

This time shades of pink are dominant.

Also emerging,

 is the Flowering Redcurrant.

Tightly  compacted flower heads slowly unfold.

Even the rose bushes are showing signs of life,

after being so dormant for many months.

Today, the 21st March, is officially the start of Spring.

Everything is now progressing,

 to a wonderful season that is showing signs of new life.

Brilliant!

I look forward to much more!

A Happy New Year!

A mixture of blue skies & clouds,

but as the winter's day sun starts to disappear,

 the results are worth seeing.
These photos were taken on Xmas Sunday at Shapwick again,

but being the last day of December 2009,

 these images seem appropriate as the daylight is gently

drifting away. . . .

Even the moon makes an appearance,

So may I wish everyone, in particular,

 to all those that have taken the time to take an interest in my blogs.

Other blog sites have been a total inspiration,

 & I thoroughly enjoy following them, although,

unfortunately not always the time to comment,

often this is with regret.

Xmas Sunday Afternoon

Christmas Sunday, & time for a lovely walk around part of Shapwick Health, near Glastonbury,

A chill, but with the right clothing a  lovely walk enjoying the surroundings

Eventhough a thaw had begun,

 a large amount of ice was still lingering around,

even on the vast lake that emerged after walking several pathways,

The sightings of the Swans added to the wintery scenes. . . .

A nesting box stands high in readiness for an Owl

 at the waters edge. . . .

A maze of  footpaths kept us walking & walking,

 due to the sun going down quickly in the afternoon,

 concerns emerged about wandering in the dark if we didn't keep going.

Along the footpaths,

 the watery wayside  shared its delights,

 with wooded areas covered in a layer of lush moss

A great way to spend the afternoon. . . . .

A thoroughly enjoyable walk. . . .
